Jayoda Tennekone, born and raised in Stratford, is grateful for the opportunity to work in his home community as a Mental Health Therapist. Jayoda holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Sociology and Anthropology (UPEI), a Bachelor of Social Work (University of Manitoba), and a Master of Social Work (Wilfrid Laurier University)
Jayoda has gained extensive experience working in diverse settings as a Social Worker providing mental health therapy, facilitating evidence-based group programs, and leading community-focused mental health initiatives. His clinical trainings include; Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Grief Counseling, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Suicide Prevention and Life Promotion Interventions, and Culturally Responsive Practices in Mental Health Therapy.
Jayoda has worked with clients addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance use, grief, chronic pain, trauma, relationship/attachment challenges and more. He incorporates evidence-based modalities into his practice, tailoring interventions to meet client's unique needs.
In addition to his professional work, Jayoda enjoys spending time with family and exploring the world through travel. Jayoda holds a lifelong passion for martial arts, he currently teaches and trains Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jayoda enjoys sharing his knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu with adolescents and adults, helping to build confidence, discipline, and a sense of community.
